Whether you have a focused problem or question you’re trying to solve, or a broader set of goals and ideas you wish to explore using the tools and techniques of data science and analytics, Aruku Analysis can help!
What do you need help with?
-
Was your latest campaign or event successful? Did the process you instated have a positive effect on outcomes? What are the relationships between your organization’s key metrics?
Data science and statistical methodologies can help answer these kinds of questions.
-
Do you want to gain a deeper understanding of your customer or user base? Do you want to rank a list of potential clients by probability of success?
Data science techniques like regression and clustering coupled with domain knowledge, research and analysis can be powerful tools in these cases.
-
What will your numbers look like in 6 months, in a year, in 5 years?
Forecasting data accurately requires more than just adding a trendline to a graph in Excel. Regression techniques and simulation applied alongside domain knowledge and research will give you the best chance at an accurate forecast.
-
Do you need to build a model for playing around with different scenarios? Or for understanding how various inputs impact each other, as well as the outputs?
Maybe you want to design a model to represent a difficult-to-articulate concept.
The type of model that will work best depends on the context, goal, and underlying data, as well as how and by whom the model will be used. More high-tech and complex isn’t always best.
-
Data science offers a variety of powerful modeling approaches to help you make intelligent, optimal decisions for your business or organization, even in the face of uncertain or ever-shifting conditions.

Sample Project Flow
-
Scoping & Methodology Development
We’ll first need to understand the context of your organization and the goals you’re hoping to achieve. We’ll also need to know what kind of data we’ll have access to for the analysis. From here, we’ll decide together on a scope of work that will allow for the proper development and execution of suitable methodologies.
-
Data Gathering & Exploration
In the next step we will gather all the data and any supporting information needed to move forward with the analytical work. From here, we’ll move into the data exploration phase, an essential step for successful modeling and analysis. During exploration, we learn all about the data: what it contains, what it means, and any quirks or missing elements.
-
Modeling & Analysis
Once we have a solid understanding of the data, we start on the core modeling and analysis that was planned out during Methodology Development. The specific techniques used in this phase will depend entirely on the goal of the project and the size and structure of the available data. Modeling may proceed iteratively in more collaborative projects.
-
Output and Recommendations
In the last phase, the final version of the model - and/or the results or outputs from the final model - are shared with the client. The format of the deliverable is completely flexible to meet specific client needs. Deliverables in past projects have included: formal, written reports; PPT slides; an Excel workbook(s); Shiny app(s); or a combination of several formats.

FAQs
-
Data science is the process of asking and answering questions, over and over, with the fundamental goal of discovering true things about whatever real-world situation or events your data represents. This ability becomes crucial when the size or complexity of the data makes it difficult - if not impossible - to tease out truth from just . . . noise.
Many data science techniques are rooted in statistics, but may pull from other maths and sciences as well.
-
Quite possibly!
We have worked with clients and organizations spanning numerous industries. Our most extensive experience is in healthcare (including biotech and pharma) - operations analysis, market forecasting, cost modeling, outcomes modeling, research, and more. In addition, we’ve had multiple clients in the real estate industry (standard, consumer-facing, as well as investment real estate). Not to mention multiple projects for e-commerce clients, subscription services, and multi-channel retailers, and at least one or two projects for clients in construction, wholesaling, and nonprofit fundraising.
Even if your particular industry isn’t on this list, Aruku Analysis has a knack for quickly learning the ins and outs of new industries and domains via the data they produce. We are fluent in the language of data.
-
We use R for nearly all analyses and models, though we are also happy to build models directly in Excel, if that works best for the client.
We use Shiny for building apps, and can use MySQL, PostgreSQL, Heroku, Azur, or other commondatabase management systems to access data.
-
Of course!
Being a ‘data person’ is definitely NOT a pre-requisite for hiring us. Part of our job is translating a real-world problem or question into a model or other data structure that can be analyzed and solved - then translating that back into real-world terms for our clients.
-
Aruku Analysis is able to take specific steps to ensure data privacy and security for cases in which it is of particular concern. Upon request, we will use the Sookasa platform which integrates with Dropbox for secure, encrypted file sharing and storage. Sookasa is HIPAA, FERPA, PCI DSS, FINRA, and GLBA compliant. We are also happy to sign NDAs prior to starting work, if required.
-
The truth is there really is no “typical” cost or timeline. Both of these depend entirely on the specifics of the project, which could be a highly focused analysis on a small dataset lasting under a week, or a long-term engagement stretching over many months. If you’d like to get a general idea of the cost and timeline for the project you have in mind, or if you have a particularly tight deadline you need to meet, go to our Contact page and send us a message! We’ll respond ASAP.
-
Of course! If you go to our Contact page and send a message with a brief description of the kind of data help you have in mind, we’ll get back to you ASAP and we can set up an online call to discuss further.
